ARTIST STATEMENT

I was educated in the arts and in the 70’s started a series of drawings which soon beget sculpture. Previously, I worked with ribbons, ropes, fabric, film, inks, beads; building with testiles, printing an image, and especially I loved weaving. So when I started drawing and painting, my love of patterns and symbols came together.

My works are visual stories about spiritual questing, women, men, mountains, water, life. I am delighted with the concept that everything relates to each other, perhaps even "talk" to one another. I'm exploring dreams, elements of the sacred, stories, and my sense of wonderment of the world's beauty. Nature's duality of devastation and beauty enthralls me. The land with water moving through it brings profound moments of joy. With the sculpture; carving and beading are a focused meditation. My current imagery is related to the garden, farms and mother nature's divine plants and elemental magic.
