'Aha Hana Lima 2015 Workshops
Thank you to visiting artists Boyd Sugiki and Lisa Zerkowitz of Two Tone Studios (glass), Sara Ransford (paper clay), Catherine Nash (fiber), and all who participated for helping to make the 'Aha Hana Lima 2015 workshop and lecture series a success! Boyd Sugiki was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with his high school glass blowing instructor Hugh Jenkins on the Big Island!
May 18 - 25: Raku Ho'olaulea with guest artists Charlie and Linda Riggs. Have you made your campsite/cabin reservation at Camp Mokule'ia yet?
May 18: Wet Clay Demo with our guest artists, Charlie and Linda Riggs at the University of Hawaii at Manoa Ceramics Lab, 5:30 - 8:00 PM.
May 19: Slide Lecture by Charlie and Linda Riggs at the ARTS at Marks Garage gallery (1159 Nuuanu Ave., Honolulu/Chinatown), 5:30 - 8:00 PM. Free and open to the public.
May 24: Community Kiln at Camp Mokule'ia 12:00 - 4:00 PM. Glaze and fire your own tea bowl!
June 4 - 27: Raku Exhibit at the ARTS at Marks Garage gallery. Opening reception on Thursday June 4 from 5:30 - 8:00 PM. Gallery hours for the show will be Tuesdays - Saturdays 12 AM - 5 PM.
October 15 - November 18: Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition at the Honolulu Museum of Art School Gallery with guest juror Lowery Stokes Sims, curator at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD) in NYC. Dates are approximate; we'll update information on the ASJE 2015 page when final dates are set.

RICK MILLS, The Spirit of Manoa | Manoa Public Library Congratulations to Hawaii Craftsmen member Rick Mills, whose commissioned work of art for the Manoa Public Library was unveiled in March.

Congratulations to Hawaii Craftsmen member Bud Spindt, whose commissioned work of art for Mokapu Elementary School was unveiled in March.
More details on both of these newly unveiled works are in the Hawaii State Foundation on Culture and the Arts April e-News, which also includes photos and a mention of Hawaii Craftsmen member Rochelle Lum at the Art at the Capitol event that took place on March 6th. Rochelle is just one of many Hawaii Craftsmen members whose work is in our State Legislature! Works on view this year include pieces by Jackie Mild-Lau, Charles Higa, Robert W. Butts, Shigeru Miyamoto, Esther Shimazu, May Izumi, and Francisco Clemente.

ART EXHIBITION: Through the Artist's Eye | Volcano Art Center
The first-ever Volcano Art Center invitational exhibition focusing on the native plant and animal species and minerals found in Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. This multimedia show features the selected works of Kate & Will Jacobson, Tommy Adkins, Clytie Mead, Mary Goodrich, Joseph Ruesing, Monika Mann, Esther Szegedy, Sarah Taylor Ko, Charlene Asato, and Glorianne Garza. An opening reception with the artists will be held at the gallery on Saturday, April 25, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM.

Call for Applications: Honolulu MOCA Art in City Buildings for Waianae Police Station Replacement
The City and County of Honolulu Commission on Culture and the Arts desires to commission a work of art for the Waianae Police Station Replacement building, 85-939 Farrington Highway, Waianae, Hawaii 96792. One location has been designated to receive art. This request for proposals is open to all artists, or artist teams, qualified to work in the City and County of Honolulu.
