Volunteer at Hawai'i Craftsmen

As a volunteer organization, Hawaiʻi Craftsmen relies on the active participation of its members in giving their time to helping Board members and Program Chairs with a wide range of tasks. Many volunteer opportunities can be done remotely; hence, neighbor island members can also contribute their time and expertise. Please consider volunteering as a coordinator or member on any of the committees listed below:

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE COMMITTEE

Committee members should have interest/experience in membership development and will assist in membership outreach, building greater active membership, and soliciting updates of member contact and interests information.

HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE

Committee members should have interest/experience in hospitality organization, such as arranging hospitality logistics, setting up tables with refreshments and snacks, and serving food and beverages at our program receptions, openings, and ad hoc events.

VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE

Committee members should have interest/experience in organizing volunteers; gathering data on volunteer skills, interests, and expertise; and working with program chairs and event coordinators to contact, solicit, and schedule volunteers.

FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE

Committee members should have an interest/experience in fundraising, particularly in working with donors and corporate sponsors. Members will be tasked with developing sponsorship packages, with outreach to potential donors and corporate sponsors, and with soliciting gifts in kind and/or monetary donations for programs and events.

GRAPHICS DESIGN COMMITTEE

Committee members should have interest/experience in graphic design and will be tasked with working with the board of directors, graphic design professionals, and a communications team to develop a new organization logo and visual branding to be used from 2018 onward.

OTHER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If sustained participation on a committee is not possible, consider ad hoc volunteer opportunities, such as assisting with sales of tea bowls, sake cups, t-shirts at events, silent auctions, and art festivals; organizing community displays of membersʻ work; hosting a visiting artist in your home or spending the morning, afternoon, or evening with a guest artist; providing leis for our guests, award winners and other VIPs at our events; setting up a slide lecture or media presentation; updates for database and historical info about HC; researching and contributing information for our newsletter; labeling and organizing our photo files for easy access (can be done remotely or from the Hawai'i Craftsmen office); or helping with a wide range of other tasks associated with our signature programs.

Program Teams include:
Winter/Spring - 'Aha Hana Lima committee members
Winter/Spring (Alternate Years) - Fundraising Dinner and Art Sales
Summer/Fall - Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition
Late Fall (Alternate Years) - Fiber Hawai'i exhibition
    Spring/Summer – Raku Ho'olaule'a
